How-dy! It has been a weekend. Lots to fill you in on, so let’s get to it!

Friday night was spent by going to the gym, breakfast quesadillas (omg, yum) and making our registry check list. Uh…we need like, a lot of things. Okay, okay. Not necessarily need but moreso want. Can you blame us? We’re young and are using hand-me-downs of pretty much everything.

First things first, breakfast quesadillas.

SO delicious. SO easy. Make these, now.

Ingredients used included scrambled eggs, shredded cheese, chorizo (or any meat or no meat if you prefer!) and cholua. Lots of cholua.

Along side some homemade hashbrowns.

While making our registry list, Murphy decided he needed to be in the middle of the action.

Always has to be the center of attention.

We typically are lazy on Friday nights and want to get takeout but I’m trying to make Friday meals a fun meal so we don’t want to go out as much.

Saturday morning came and I didn’t wake up in time to go to the gym before our 9:30 appt. at Bed, Bath & Beyond so I did this workout at home instead:

Uh, if you think this looks easy…do it and then tell me what you think. My calves huuurt from this! How pathetic.

After a quick shower & smoothie (and trying out the new PB Cherrios!) we headed to our first stop at BBB.

I won’t lie to you, I was overwhelmed. I have to pick out the dishes I’m going to use for the rest of my life?!?! After a brief stint of freaking out we got to it.

Oh you better believe that we put a blender on there. A good one.

After nearly 2 hours of scanning items…we needed to leave for another appointment. We didn’t even get halfway thru the list! I think I would rather do the rest online…

Next we headed to check out a bridesmaid dress. This task has been the hardest by far. I’m not sure why, but I just couldn’t find exactly what I wanted…until today!

Boom! Bridesmaid dresses done. You can wear this dress in about 50 gazillion ways which I think is super nice and will look nice on any body type. I choose the sapphire blue and I’m even thinking about getting one for myself!

After that, we drove to the mall to check out some clothes at JCP. We had some gift cards from Christmas that needed to be used. Nothing exciting here, some sock and 2 overshirts. Being a grown up is overrated at times.

Then our final stop…El Beso!

We fell in love with this Mexican restaurant when we lived in our old apartment and made special plans to head there this weekend.

And then promptly came home and crashed for 2 hours (while Murphy was laying on my head of course). Apparently I can’t even handle one margarita anymore because I had a headache for the rest of the night. Yep, I’m an 80 year old in a 23 year olds body.

We’ve had some late nights the past couple days but all for good reasons.

Last night was our first night of Bible study and I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of nervous. I have never been to a Bible study and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

Well..it turned out better than I could have imagined. It’s just 2 other couples in our group and we immediately clicked. It felt so nice to just connect with people here. Last year was a big year of change for us and honestly we didn’t really put forth effort in meeting more people. I think 2012 is our year…for lots of things 🙂

With the late nights meant…I skipped my workouts Tuesday & Wednesday. Womp. I’m not gonna think about it too much, sometimes ya need a break!

Tonight I was back at it with an RPM class. Originally, I was going to do a Body Flow class but I needed to sweat it out after skipping some classes. Difficult, but great!

Tomorrow is Friday which means..weekend! Woo!

Question: Weekend plans? We are doing our registry this weekend! Eeee!

Tuesday has come and nearly gone! Quick & busy day at work…that’s how I like it :).

Zumba was on the schedule tonight for the workout, which I’m usually pretty pumped for, but not tonight. I love me some Zumba and I would nearly venture to say it’s my favorite workout (because it doesn’t feel like I’m working out) but I was really not feeling it tonight. No biggie, sometimes you just need a break!

Dinner

I am homemade pizza’s biggest fan. No seriously, I LOVE homemade pizza. I mean, A) it’s cheaper, B) you can put whatever toppings on it you want (endless choices I tell you!) and C) it’s so much healthier than takeout pizza. And better tasting. Booyah.

Ryan is a little pickier than I am on pizza. He’s more of a few toppings w/ cheese  and I’m more of a if we have it in the fridge I put it on there, within reason 🙂

Much better than anything you can order!

So I read this article at work today and I still can’t get over it. To summarize, a new study done in the U.S. found that workers spend nearly $3,000 a year on lunches & coffee. LUNCHES & COFFEE. Um, what?!?!

Excerpt from the article:

“Meanwhile, half of the American workforce buys coffee regularly at work, spending more than $20 a week on it, an average of approximately $1,000 a year. And two thirds of American workers buy their lunch instead of packing it, spending an average of $37 per week. This means that, on average, American workers are shelling out nearly $2,000 a year on lunch alone.”

Why? Why waste that much money on something that isn’t even enjoyable? Don’t get me wrong, every now and then I get a coffee or lunch out during the work week because sometimes you have limited time or just don’t feel like packing a lunch or making your coffee. But 2/3 of American buy there lunch instead of packing it almost every day? So not necessary.

There are so many delicious lunches you can make at home or you can easily bring leftovers. Think of what you could buy with $3,000 extra dollars?! Endless choices! Okay, not really but that’s still a chunk of change.

Question: What are your thoughts on this article? How often to you take your lunch/coffee to work?

How’s it hangin’? Rainy here in Milwaukee. Very. Rainy.

Mondays usually fly by so before I knew it I was scootin’ out the door to head to the gym.

Body Pump Mondays make for a good Monday. I did feel somewhat weaker today though. I’ve been trying to up my weights on a few tracks and man am I feeling it. I know it’s because I’m getting stronger but man oh man!

Now we’re watching the Bachelor, which we started later when it actually starts so we can fast forward thru the dumb parts. This season is so awful! Anyone else agree? Maybe it’s because I don’t like Ben or maybe because most of the girls are annoying but I am not a fan.

Dinner featured Angela’s Vegan Enchiladas…that I made vegetarian. I didn’t have much nutritional yeast on hand so I used shredded cheese.

  • Giving Murphy an ear cleaning (and he’s now sulking in the corner)

  • Attending a wellness event
  • Making appointments for bridesmaid dresses & registry (!!!)
  • Figuring out our centerpieces, reception decorations, place cards, unity sand (yes, all from one place)

Yep…it’s been a filled to the brim type of weekend, but that’s how I like it!

We made it to the weekend! Can I get a whoop, whoop?

No big plans this weekend, except for starting my Integrative Nutrition course! The module officially opened on Tuesday but it has been a busy week so I waited until this weekend to start the work. I can’t wait!

In other news, I totally messed up this week. Wednesday I went to the gym, toting my yoga mat, excited for Body Flow. I’ve only been to the class once but since it’s a little more relaxed than say Body Pump or RPM, I knew it’s what I want to take.

So I get there, scan my key…lo and behold it’s Body Vive, not Body Flow. Ha! I messed up the time! Body Flow didn’t start until over an hour later and I knew if I went home I wouldn’t come back so I tried Body Vive, having no idea what to expect. It was an okay class, but not really my type. I either want to sweat it out in a hard class or be relaxed in an easier class. Body Vive was a mix of both and it threw me off guard.

Besides that, our Save the Dates arrived! SO quick. Definitely recommend Minted to any bride to be!

Rip roarin’ Friday, I know. Ryan has been gone for work and we had to tape both nights. American Idol (and chinese food) calls!

Question: Do you watch American Idol? I didn’t before but we started watching last season just for the beginning (the bad people are the best!) but then we got sucked into the whole season!

I just got back from Zumba class. I love my Zumba Tuesdays. The instructor has such a high energy and gets the class so pumped up. Though since I upped my weights yesterday in Body Pump, my arms were feelin’ it!

Speaking of Zumba, I forgot to give you my weekly workouts & meals!

Moving on, Ryan  & I have revamped our spending habits a bit at the start of the new year. No, we aren’t out buying $1,000 watches or anything, we just wanted to be more mindful of our spending…especially of our groceries since that is my downfall.

Grocery Bill Limit

Not that Ryan & I have been outrageous with our spending, but since we are planning for a wedding and all, we figured it would be high time to really look at how much we spend on groceries and see if we can cut down anywhere.

We set our budget at $300 a month for the both of us. Once you break it down, that works out to be $5 a day per person for breakfast, lunch & dinner which is pretty good.

We decided to make this budget strictly for groceries, therefore if we buy something like mouthwash & face wash (like we did on our recent Costco trip) we will subtract that out since it’s technically not groceries.

This also does not include if we go out to eat for a meal or if we use a Groupon. Our limit on eating out is once a week (this would include if one of us went out to eat for lunch at work- which rarely happens) and since we’ve already paid for a Groupon, I see no need in counting it under groceries.

So far for the month of January we have spent $216.55, leaving us with $83. 45 for the next 2 weeks, which we’ve already bought groceries for this week. I think this is easily doable. I was slightly nervous of not being able to buy our regular healthy foods, but most of what we buy are fruits & vegetables and we have plenty money to spare!

Hopefully we can keep up with this so we can keep saving for that honeymoon!
